The St. Gregory Institute for the Study of Latin Liturgical Texts (SGI) is a collaborative project between the International Commission on English in the Liturgy (ICEL) and the Department of Ancient and Medieval Languages and Cultures of The Catholic University of America. The goal of the Institute is to explore the linguistic, literary, and cultural features of the rich patrimony of Latin liturgical texts. It draws upon the resources not only of the Department of Ancient and Medieval Languages and Cultures and the Commission, but also on recognized scholars of international standing, who are willing to share the fruits of their work. The Institute is open to those who are actively engaged in the translation of liturgical texts and also to all who are seeking to deepen their knowledge of these Latin texts and to explore the patrimony that led to their creation, their use, and their reception by future generations. Thus, the Institute crosses boundaries of time and place, to focus on the timeless treasures of the Catholic tradition of thought, culture, and prayer.

Interested individuals from inside and outside of academia are warmly welcomed to attend the Institute's public events and can join the SGI mailing list here.
