Our community of students and scholars works together to study the languages, literatures, and cultures of the ancient and medieval worlds, spanning more than two thousand years of history and embracing a geographic range that stretches from Egypt and Syria through the Mediterranean and Europe to the British Isles. We are interested in the ancient Near East, Greece and Rome, early Christianity, and the relationship of antiquity to the Christian tradition, both East and West.
